That Classic Fender Sound for Christmas!

I worked on this shot for my website and thought it would go great here also. This is a classic and classy combination from the late 70's and early 80's. The "Tele", is my 62 re-issue, the amp, my late 70's Deluxe Reverb amp. Together with a few select pedals and we have a toxic combo for any club. I like to call this picture the "A Retro Christmas".

Believe it or not, I played alternative rock using this setup quite frequently. You can either mike the front of the cabinet or use a direct box. I've used both and like both for what they bring to the show. Easy tear down too.

And now briefly onto the events of the Zero Impact Shop over the next few weeks.

We will be starting on the next custom internal project later this month along with preparation for the release of the eco-Axe 1a in the Spring. (stay tuned for a sneak peek in Jan. 09).

I'll be starting work on the 'G' later next quarter. The 'G' is an SG inspired creation featuring custom graphics and finish. I'll also be starting an OSU Themed Guitar for an old "Buckeye".

OK - Now for the shout out to the troops. As always, thanks for your service. It is greatly appreciated here.

And to everyone here on my blog,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Well, we've consumed dinner, watched a bunch of parades and pageantry, three traditional football games and started to eyeball the leftovers. Let's not let the day go by without a great big shout out to the troops overseas keeping us safe and free to enjoy out diner and families.

Thanks to all in uniform for your sacrifices. See you soon safe and sound stateside.

Welcome Race Fans!

The NASCAR event is in town this weekend. The ZIG Shop is within a mile or so of the track so I've been able to hear alot of the races from the back. Tonite is the big race though and the traffic shows it. Here at the shop, we are going to watch the football game, (Miami Dolphins) and the traffic both in the air and on the ground. The race starts around 3 PM eastern. They always have a bit of an airshow before the race so we'll have to keep an eye out for that.  I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, but I've been to my share of the races in the past. Always a fun time to be had. Lets hope for a safe race and that everyone makes it home safely afterwards.

Just a thought, I wonder if anyone would want a custom "88" guitar or another special paint job on a custom eco-Axe? Just a thought. maybe I'll do one for my favorite Driver in F-1...

Thanks for checking in, Stay Tuned!

A New Era for America

Congratulations President Elect Barack Obama!

This week most Americans participated in a historical event by voting in one of the most important general elections in our lifetime. We elected an African-American as our 44th President.

Now, let me first say that he was not the candidate I supported, however; I do and did realize the significance of the election for the country first of all, but also for the world. Never have I seen celebrations in the streets of other countries like Germany and Canada over the election of our President. It seems that the world agrees with the popular vote. Like I said, I didn't vote for President Elect Obama, but I realize the importance of the election.

I do want to take this opportunity to congratulate our new President and to offer my support.

Lets all join together as Americans and do whatever the country ask us to do and lets all support President Elect Obama.

We loaded up the family and hit US 1 for our inspirational trip for the next Guitar project. Along the way, we found some nice places to take some pictures of an eco-Axe in its "natural" environment. I hope you enjoy these as much as we did taking them.

The wife and I driving,

Seven Mile Bridge...

Near Marathon...This is the photo we are putting on the website. This was what made the trip all worth while.

Well, this was what the trip was all about. lol...

When we turned around. Not sure. I think we were near Key West. Notice the poor little stuffed duck on the road. Soft Road Kill..

Check back soon and stay tuned...

WHERES THE BRIDGE!

Here it is. This is a picture of the custom bridge for the ZIG#1. It is an 80's model from Schecter that I sent to RIP to be custom engraved. I appreciate Eddies work along with his team. They took time out from one of their custom show projects to work on my project. Thanks again guys, looks great and turned out better than I expected.

Re Introducing the Zero Impact Guitars Replica #1...

Here it is! The ZIG#1.
The tone is Rich, Warm and Sweet. Kinda like a nicely heated "Honey Bun". Anyway, we are still working on the second prototype. Still have the eco-Axe on the drawing board and I'll show you the design once I have the final view ready.

This guitar though is a milestone for the company. It represents the fact that we can do this. We have the vendors lined up to supply our "smart wood". We have our vendor selected for our hardware and electronics and we have our custom paint and finishing department under development.

Our intention is to provide some custom graphics to our designs. "Air Brush". As I develop new projects and ideas, I plan to publish them on this blog first, then on my website.

Thanks again for checking in.

Stay Tuned (;-)

Project Update for 1 October

Hello all, and welcome to October.
This month we hope to begin the installation of some of the solar equipment at the shop. Initally, we will be running the lighting and computers from the cells. This along with the hand assembly of the instruments keeps us within our personal goal of a Zero Impact manufacturing and assembly process.

I would like to thank all of those who support our project either with financial, moral or labor suport. We would not be able to do this without your help.

I would like to extend a special thanks to my Wife, Arelys for her suport and encouragement to continue the fight and to move forward with the project.

After several drawbacks and financing issues, we have developed a new plan to complete the project a bit behind schedule but still completing it. I have to remind myself that it ain't going to be easy. If it were, everyone would be opening businesses and selling products. There is a rough road ahead, and this possibly isn't the best time to open a new business. But I would not be true to myself if I were not able to express myself through my guitars.

I believe my guitars to be of exceptional construction, extreemly unique and of the highest quality materials available. Once I have the new model designed, I will be publishing where you may view the Zero Impact Mark-V.

Thanks again for checking in with me. I'll have some pic's later this week of the solar installation.

Zero Impact Project Update

As the month has progressed, so has the project. Inital design work completed earlier this month on the inital solar array and will be ordered the first of next month.

There has been a emergency project at the engravers so we are allowing the Zero Impact 1 project to set for a few days and begining on the next project. Stay tuned for updates and new pictures.

Thanks to everyone that checks in to my blog and the website. I hope to be able to setup the newletter and begin to review some of the projects and new gear out very soon.

Thanks again,

Quick Sneek Peek...

OK. Got the bridge today for the new axe.

Looks good. Not going to send this one out for custom engraving yet. Oh, it will go, just not yet.

I wanted to post this pic out here as soon as I set the bridge into the position. The patern of the grain and the colors just came alive when it was placed. I'm very excited about this project...

Just look at that grain. This is a great looking guitar if I do say so myself. Oooooooooo goodie, more toys.....

Quick Update September 10, 2008

Well, we are looking into the solar panels for the prototype shop now. Looks like we are on track for a early winter grand opening of the shop. We are planning to go to the January Guitar Show in Orlando to unveil our project. Our initial response has been fair. We are gearing up for the test marketing project with the two prototypes now. We will be at the FIU Music Department mid to late November. The last prototype will be the "High End" version of the Mark-V called the ZIG Mark-Vlx due to be presented at the January Show.

We are also in the process of wrapping up the final details of the eco-Axe. This guitar body will be constructed entirely from "smartwood", finished using water based products and eco friendly application techniques and entirely hand assembled and setup. This is why we decided to do this. To produce a professional grade guitar that has the smallest impact on the environment as possible. There are many things we can do to help out our planet and the envoironment. We can't do it alone though. We need your help. Please remember to reduce, recycle and reuse as much as possible.

OK, we have another one of the prototypes ready for polishing. I have yet to decide on the bridge yet but more than likely I'll put Gold hardware on this beauty.

This version is an extremely light weight swamp ash body with a Zero Impact Custom Cherry Sunburst Finish, Custom eAxe Lic Gold Floyd Rose Tremolo, EMG SA Pickups, Custom Arrow Neck with Grover Locking Gold Tuners.

This axe has been through the wringer as far as the finish. this body started out purple. The finish had some major flaws though so I decided to sand it down and start from scratch. I think it turned out pretty good. I do hope you agree.

Anyway, check back to see the finished product by the end of the month. I should have the next project underway by then also.

Until next time, keep on keepin on.

1st Look Redu...

OK. Here is the 90% complete Strat-O-Kaspar. The bridge is still at the engravers. We changed up a few things to help enhance the effect I was going for.

Anyway, here we are with a new logo, a new website, a new prototype almost complete, the 2nd prototype (Mark Ve) is ready for the new color coats then a clear coat or two. Keeping in mind that all finishes are water based and no impact delivery methods. this particular guitar is a recycled unit that was never completed back in the 1980's. The body in all intent and purpose is Vintage.

We are about ready to complete the design of the solar array to be installed at the shop. Once I have more of it here, I'll give a small online tour.

Next week, I hope to be able to post a video or atleast an audio blog entry. It should be interesting. I'll show you a few of my performance axes.

Thanks again for checking with our little project. We are having a good time at it and hope you are enjoying the trip too.

First look at the new company logo.

Alright. Here is the first draft of the logo. I plan to send this concept out to the designers and my art guys, to come up with some other ideas. Still need to get something for the Brand-

Going forward with the cards, pads, t-shirts etc... Got to have something to hand out. T-shirts will be for sale at my store later on this year. Probably around December.

The body for the 2nd prototype should be here tomorrow. I'm very excited about this one. Lots of thought, testing, looking, waiting and finally!

Check back to see the latest on the 1st prototype. It is just about ready for the bridge assembly. Still waiting for the engraver to wrap up.

Thanks for checking in with me here.

I'm still waiting on the custom bridge to get back from the engravers. This guy is the best in the country man. I'm telling you. He has just won best detail on a bike project he and his car club entered. Check back for the website details in the our friends tab on the website.

Impact News

Hey all and welcome to the inital post to the Zero Impact Guitars Blog. This blog will be used to keep you up to date on the company (Zero Impact Guitars) and the directions we are moving in.

The objective of the company is to produce a professional grade musical instrument that is constructed entirely by hand, finnished in such a way as to reduce the "Impact" on the planet and the environment. Our guitar bodies are constructed using "smartwood" from sources around the world.

Our guitars are one of a kind and the skys the limit as far as custom options. The choice is yours.

I will begin by attempting to post my weekly progress reports on the various projects we are working on, reviews of the gear we are using and the progress and gig dates of the various bands we have begun to be affiliated with.

Thanks for joining us on this journey into the cyberland known to most of you already as the web. We hope to catch you on down the blog... ;-)
